Principle analysis of charging and discharging mechanism of lithium battery

Lithium ion batteries are often described as having advantages over conventional nickel-cadmium (Ni/Cd) and nickel-metal hydride (Ni/MH) batteries. It has the advantages of high working voltage, high specific energy, long cycle life, low self-discharge rate and no memory effect.

The three most important steps for lithium battery charging are as follows:
Step 1: determine the voltage <3V, precharge first, and the current is 0.05c;

Step 2: judge 3V< voltage < 4.2v, constant current charge 0.2c ~1C current;

Step 3: judge voltage > 4.2v, constant voltage charge, voltage 4.20v, current decreases with voltage increase, until full.

Lithium ion battery has been developed rapidly since its appearance in 1990 because of its excellent performance and widely used in society. Lithium-ion batteries have quickly taken over many fields, such as mobile phones, laptops and small video cameras, with advantages that no other pool of electricity can match.
The accepted rationale for lithium batteries is the so-called rocking chair theory. The charge and discharge of lithium battery is not realized through the traditional way of electron transfer, but through the lithium ions in and out of the crystal of the layer strong material, the energy changes. In the case of normal charge and discharge, lithium ion in and out of the general only cause the change of layer spacing, but will not cause the destruction of the crystal structure, so from the charge and discharge reflection, lithium ion battery is an ideal reversible battery. In the discharge of lithium ions in the battery positive and negative back and forth, just like a rocking chair in the positive and negative pole to shake, so someone will call the lithium ion battery image rocking chair battery.
